スコープ和文海岸低湿地は海面上昇や人為インパクトなどの外部環境変化に対し大変脆弱な環境と言える。このセッションでは、様々な気候帯に属する海岸低湿地を対象に、主として完新世における地形・生物・人為プロセスについて議論する。例えば熱帯地域の海岸低湿地は、熱帯低湿地林（マングローブ林、泥炭湿地林、および淡水湿地林）の拡大に伴って形成されてきた。マングローブ林と泥炭湿地林の立地形成維持機構は、主として泥炭生産分解プロセスに支配されている。泥炭生産分解プロセスは温帯や冷帯の低湿地においても重要なプロセスであり、海岸低湿地は重要な炭素蓄積の場ともなっている。沖積平野では河川による堆積侵食作用、海岸平野では波浪や沿岸流による堆積侵食作用もその形成維持プロセスを担っている。しかしながら、海岸低湿地の自然環境は、森林伐採や農地開発、泥炭採掘、マングローブ域でのエビ養殖池の造成などの人間活動によってこれまでに大きく改変されてきた。そこで、このセッションでは海岸低湿地の持続可能な管理システムを構築することを目指し、自然科学のみならず人文・社会科学分野の研究発表も歓迎する。
英文Coastal wetlands are very fragile environment against external environmental changes such as sea-level rise and anthropogenic impacts. On the other hand, coastal wetlands have a significant role as a place for carbon sequestration in the belowground as well as the aboveground. This session will discuss the geomorphologic, biologic and anthropogenic processes on the coastal wetlands in the various climate zones during the Holocene. For example, coastal wetlands in the tropics have evolved with the development of wetland forests such as mangrove forest, peat swamp forest and fresh water swamp forest. The most significant process for habitat formation and maintenance of the former two forests are peat production and decomposition, which are also significant processes on the coastal lowlands in the temperate and subarctic zones, though the mechanism of the processes might be different. Geomorphological processes such as sedimentation and erosion by fluvial and marine processes are also important for all of coastal wetlands. However, the environment of coastal wetlands has been destroyed by various human activities such as deforestation, agriculture land development, peat mining, and shrimp firming in and around mangrove forests in recent years. We would like to invite the wide discipline of research papers on not only the natural processes but also the anthropogenic processes in order to offer the scientific basis for creating sustainable management systems on the coastal wetlands in the future.
