Scope
By combining astronomical with geological expertise we hope to achieve a synergy between these two classically divided and separated fields. We aim at making a qualitative comparison between the frequency and replenishment of near Earth asteroids (NEOs) and the Earth (and moon) cratering record. The consistency between both is of crucial importance to understand the origin of NEOs, the culprits that cause craters on earth and the associated risks for society. In our open session on associated topics we hope to achieve a collaborative disscussion on the origin of craters, to pin down their frequency-energy distribution and the consequences for life as we know it. Discussions will be mediated by observationals, experimental and theoretical researchers.
