Scope
Many studies have shown that geological, geophysical, geochemical and biological disturbances had been caused by the 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake (M9) around its focal region. These onsite evidences demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary observations to evaluate a potential for megaquake and tsunami at the possible scene of a megaquake region. In this session, we discuss how we assess the potential of megaquake and large-tsunami from geochemical and biological observations as well as geological and geophysical ones at trench site, landward seafloor slope and on-shore region.
