Scope Coral reefs are characterized by their high biodiversity and active biogeochemical cycles. However they are recently threatened by local stresses such as eutrophication and sedimentation and also by global stresses such as seawater acidification and rise in water temperature. For symbiosis and coexistence of coral reefs and human beings, we need interdisciplinary approaches combining traditional disciplines such as biology, geology, geography, geochemistry, ecology, geophysics, and social science. In this session, researchers from diverse disciplines are encouraged to join and discuss about coral reefs from several point of view based on up-to-date findings.
