Biog:
Dr. Krishnamurti holds a B.A. degree in physics from Delhi University, Delhi, India, and a M.A. degree in meteorology from Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, India. In addition to his tenure at Florida State University, Dr. Krishnamurti previously served for five years on the faculty at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned his Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of Chicago in 1959.

Abstract:
This is a classical review of tropical meteorology. This talk includes a description of the tropical climatology where the emphasis is on the planetary scale monsoon.; monsoonal heat sources that migrate from Indonesia to the foot hills of the Himalayas; .Typhoons where cloud flare ups impacts their intensity and the new observing system including pilot less drones for monitoring : Monsoon and the mechanisms of the dry spells that go beyond Elnino and the Indian Ocean Dipole and low frequency tropical phenomenon called the Madden Julian Oscillations within the atmosphere and in the ocean and impacts on geophysical problems.
