The JpGU Meeting 2010 provides an opportunity for researchers, teachers, students, and consultants to present and review the latest issues affecting the Earth, the planets, and their environments in space. This meeting will cover all the topics of Earth and space sciences.

English or Japanese. (no simultaneous interpretation provided) Either of the two languages is used in a single session. In oral or poster sessions proposed by foreign researchers, Only English is used.
Sessions
Session proposals for JpGU Meeting 2010 are divided into 9 sessions.
They are Public Session (ex-special symposium), Union Session, 5 categories (Space and Planetary Sciences, Atmospheric, Ocean, and Environmental Sciences, Human Geosciences, Solid Earth Sciences and Biogeosciences), Miscellaneous Session(ex-Joint Session etc) and General Geosciences Session.
Miscellaneous Session is the one treating categories not belonging to 5 categories or the one belonging to not only one category.
Joint symposiums with other scientific societies belong to Miscellaneous Session.
Recruitment for International Sessions is actively promoted.
Oral Sessions
There are four 1.5-hour blocks of oral sessions each day. Normally lecture time for one presentation is a 15 minutes.
Morning:
0900h - 1030h and 1045h - 1215h
Afternoon:
1345h - 1515h and 1530h - 1700h
Oral Session locations:
The JpGU Meeting has been held in 13 session rooms (IC, 101, 201A, 201B, 202, 301A, 301B, 302, 303, 304, Function Room A, Function Room B, exibition hall 7 subroom) in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall.

For the oral presentations, basically, speakers must use a projector provided at the venue and their own laptop computer (for single-screen projector). We will only accept computer-based PowerPoint presentations. Please connect your computer to the projector and confirm the proper operation before your presentation. Ensure that your computer is equipped with the proper monitor connector (mini D-sub 15 pins) as shown below.

If your computer does not have this connection, please bring an appropriate converter with you. Be sure to bring an AC adaptor with you. Japanese standard AC voltage is 100V 50 Hz. The secretariat is not responsible for any projection troubles caused by computer technical difficulties.
Your computer can be placed on a podium for your presentation. Please pick up your computer at the podium after your presentation.
Slide and overhead projectors will not be available.
Postar Sessions
Poster Sessions are active for one day, although authors must put up displays between 0900h and 1000h in the morning and remove them between 1900h and 1930h. Authors are expected to make the presentation to the audience at 1715h - 1845h in front of their poster.

The poster board surfaces measure
W90cm X H210cm. A poster number card (15 cm x 10 cm) is displayed at the top left of the board. A supply of pushpins will be available in the poster area for mounting your poster. Each poster must have a label at the top that indicates the title of the paper, the name(s) of the author(s) and their affiliation(s) as shown below. The presenting author should be marked with a circle.
Authors are required to mount and remove their materials after your presentation. Posters not removed by the removing time (19:00-19:30) will be removed and discarded by the congress secretariat.

Abstract submission will start on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 and the deadline is
Friday, February 5, 2010Tuesday, February 9, 2010. You can submit your abstract through the designated website. The meeting abstracts will be available on CD-ROM.

Registration
All the participants and those who have submitted their abstract must pay registration fee and abstract-submission fee by cash (Japanese yen) at the reception desk on the first floor during the above hours.
Undergraduate and high school students and those aged seventy and over won't be charged anything for participation regardless of whether they make a presentation or not.

Badges
A name badge will be issued to all the registrants that make a payment of participation fee. All Meeting registrants are required to wear their name badge in order to gain entry to the scientific sessions.

During the meeting, wireless LAN network service is freely available around the reception desk on the 1st floor and around the lobby on the 2nd floor of the Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall.

Makuhari Messe is conveniently located halfway between central Tokyo and the New Tokyo International Airport (Narita Airport). Both Narita and Haneda airports can be reached by bus or car in approximately 60 minutes. Tokyo Station is also only 30 minutes away by train (the JR Keiyo Line).
