ルミネッセンス年代測定は，石英・長石等の鉱物粒子から発せられるルミネッセンスの強度に基づき地質年代を求める物性物理学的な手法である．近年のめざましい測定方法の発展により，過去数十年?数十万年という広い適用範囲をカバーする唯一の汎用的な年代法として信頼されるようになってきた．さらに年代学の他にも，露光や加熱によりリセットされるルミネッセンスの特性を生かし，地球科学の様々な問題に対する応用が試みられている．本セッションでは，ルミネッセンス年代測定法のさらなる発展・普及を目指し，手法の基礎やこれまでの応用研究，および日本の地質に対する本手法適用の問題点をレビューするほか，様々な個別研究の発表の場を設ける．関連分野との新たな連携につながる議論を行いたい．

Luminescence dating is a method to estimate geological ages based on the measurement of luminescence emitted from mineral grains. Recent technical progress has made luminescence dating an exclusive method that is reliably and universally applied to geological records over the last hundreds of thousand years. The nature of the luminescence, which is reset by the exposure to the light and/or heat, adds the potential of this technique to solve various geoscience problems other than chronology, and some efforts have been attempted. For further development and dissemination of the luminescence dating, this session reviews the basics and application of the luminescence dating and specific problems in the application to the geology of Japan as well as invites various case studies. Participants who have relevant research interests are welcome to join the discussion to seek new research collaboration.
