Some models cover specific oceanic regions, whereas others global oceans. In addition, not only ecosystem structure itself but also interactions with a surrounding environment may also be taken in to account in some models. Accumulation of scientific advances from these models would give essential understandings on how marine ecosystems function in and vary with environmental changes in our planet.
