Recent improvements in microanalytical techniques such as (FE-)EPMA,
SIMS, LA-ICPMS, and FTIR have resulted in significant advances in
our understanding of macroscopic magmatic processes and their rates.
In this session, we invite contributions focusing on how the
chemistry of minerals and/or their melt and fluid inclusions can be
used to gain thermobarometric, geochronological, and other insights
into the operation of modern and ancient igneous systems in Japan
and elsewhere. We welcome volcanic and plutonic studies from all
tectonic settings, including magmatic arcs, backarc basins, ocean
ridges, ocean islands, and large igneous provinces. |
