Changes since the 2015 Representative Election

According ot the revision of Statutes of the Japan Geoscience Union, The statutes of the Japan Geoscience Union were amended in 2017 to increase the number of elected representatives from 100 to 150. Because of this we are hoping for many new candidates for this year’s election. We would like to encourage all JpGU members to stand as a candidate, to recommend others as candidates, and to vote.

Purpose of the Election

Representatives will be elected by JpGU members. Anyone who is a fully paid up JpGU member is eligible to stand as a candidate, to recommend candidate and to vote. The 150 newly elected representatives will attend the JpGU General Delegate Meeting to discuss, debate and vote on all matters of JpGU policy. [IS THIS OK?] They will also vote to choose the President of JpGU, Section Presidents and JpGU Directors from among their number.

How to stand as a Candidate

Only those who are fully paid up JpGU members as of 5pm Japan time on 20th July 2017 are eligible to vote in, be a candidate in, or recommend others as candidates for the representative election.
