#2. Notification of JpGU Members Website Scheduled Maintenance

Due to the preparation for the meeting registration and abstract
submission, the JpGU members website will temporarily be closed and
all associated services will become inoperable during
the following period.

* It is possible that we may have to limit or cancel the on-site
meeting. In either of these cases, online events will be held on the
same dates as scheduled for the on-site meeting.
(*We have changed our previous plan.)

We will start accepting abstract submissions on January 13, 2021!

(4) About JpGU Membership
The 2021 JpGU fiscal year for members starts on January 13, 2021
(same date as the beginning of the abstract submission).
Please note that those who newly become a member on or before January
12 will be charged the annual dues for both FY 2020 and 2021.

*We only accept credit cards to settle your membership dues, submission
fees, and registration fees. Extra charges will incur if other methods
are requested.

#4. 2021 JpGU Fellowship Program

Fellowship Program confers fellowship honors upon individuals who
have made contributions to the field of geoscience research in Japan
by making significant discoveries breakthroughs or paradigm shift,
or contributing to the development of Japanese geoscience and the
dissemination of geoscientific knowledge.

for the nomination by the deadline.

#5. 4th Nishida Prize for Promotion of Geo- and Planetary Science

Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU) is now accepting recommendations for
candidates for the 4th Nishida Prize for Promotion of Earth and Planetary
Science.

JpGU has created the “Nishida Prize for Promotion of Earth and Planetary
Science” in 2014 to honor internationally recognized mid-career
researchers under the age of 45.

#6. Invitation to the Great Debate session at AGU Fall Meeting 2020

For the JpGU attendees to AGU FM 2020 now in session (#AGU20)
Have you noticed there are quite a few co-sponsored sessions with JpGU
at the #AGU20 meeting now entering into its second week? One of them
is U-018 session to be live broadcast is the Great Debate session
coordinated among partner unions of JpGU and AGU on Dec 16 (Wed) at
00:00-01:30 (JST!). Simon Wallis (JpGU vice-president) will be joining
the debate as one of the 8 panelists.

#8. Information from PEPS

(1) Editorial board meeting of PEPS was held

The Editorial board meeting of PEPS, which was held during JpGU
meeting every year, was held on November 20th (Fri.) by web meeting.
Thirty-six editors from Japan, United States, Europe, and Asian
countries attended and actively exchanged opinions on the current
status of PEPS and new actions.
